With the return of the surge in dollar costs, popular discontent and resentment are reignited, particularly among impoverished individuals, who fear a suffocating economic catastrophe that would wreak havoc on their precarious living conditions.
In an exclusive interview with Al-Mutala’ Agency today, Saturday, economic expert Bassem Antoine stated that “economic reforms, in light of the rise in the price of the dollar against the Iraqi dinar, will take a long time to complete what the current government seeks, by untying the dollar knot and ending the major crisis.”
“Iraq needs to develop the economy in a different way than before, particularly in the agricultural, commercial, and tourism sectors,” he noted, stressing that “activating these sectors will contribute greatly.”
