On Tuesday, representative Basem Khashan revealed that former Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi will be sentenced to life in jail.
In an interview with Al-Maalouma, Khashan stated that “the extent of corruption with which former Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi was involved is enormous, and it is twice what we have reported to the supervisory authorities,” adding that “until this moment, more files are being revealed that prove his corruption, which caused great damage to state institutions.” Iraqi.
“Al-Kazemi’s arrest is just a matter of time,” he continued, “especially since the Iraqi judiciary has many and dangerous files condemning him at the same time,” emphasizing that “the life sentence will be the least against him, especially with what he committed of major corruption crimes, including looting of public money and abuse of influence.”
“A decision to arrest Al-Kadhimi, in coordination with Interpol, is imminent,” he said, adding that “justice will reach him, his team, and any person from the pillars of his government involved in looting public money.”
In addition, the Iraqi judiciary has issued arrest warrants for numerous of the former prime minister’s aides and advisors on accusations of corruption and misuse of official positions.
