General Electric seeks to use jet turbines to convert burned gas into electricity in Iraq

Medhat Al-Marabi, Executive Director of Mobile Power Units at General Electric Energy business in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, announced on Sunday that the business intends to employ jet turbine technology to convert burnt gas into electrical energy.

According to the Ministry of Oil, this occurred during his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani.

According to the statement, Al-Merhebi stated that the meeting included discussing General Electric’s technical offer for quick solutions to benefit from burned associated gas to produce electrical energy using General Electric’s jet turbine technology, as well as the proposal to sign a framework agreement on the sidelines of the COP28 climate conference.

In reply, the Minister of Oil emphasized the Ministry’s eagerness to assist projects that invest in associated gas and convert it into usable energy in collaboration with respected specialist international firms.
