MP Baqir Al-Saadi, a member of the Parliamentary Services Committee, revealed on Sunday that the development of the Grand Al-Faw Port had been sped up by 30%.

“There are three important characteristics of the large Al-Faw port project, which will increase the percentage of the Iraqi budget’s ability to receive goods by up to 25% and create great prospects in supporting the strategic development road project in its three dimensions by creating high flexibility in the flow of goods from various countries around the world,” Al-Saadi said in an interview with Al-Maalouma.

“The pace of construction of the large FAO project has been accelerated by more than 30% as a result of direct follow-up by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani in adhering to work schedules and resolving any issues,” he said.

He stated that “the project will add a qualitative leap to the Iraqi economy in terms of the possibility of bringing large financial revenues to the country’s treasury, in addition to its pivotal role in the path of development, which it will begin very soon after the completion of the plans.”

The enormous Al-Faw port is one of Iraq’s important projects that will increase the flexibility of the Gulf’s southern ports in accepting commodities.
