Blinken calls on Sudanese to protect Americans in Iraq

According to the US State Department, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken requested Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani to safeguard Americans in the country early Saturday morning.

According to the US State Department, Blinken met with Iraq’s Prime Minister on Friday, and “Blinken called on the Iraqi government to fulfill its obligations to protect all facilities where Americans are located.”

According to the statement, Blinken also called for “pursuing those responsible for the attacks on Americans in Iraq.” The two sides also addressed the conflict between Israel and Hamas, the humanitarian situation in Gaza, and the need to prevent the conflict from expanding.

This demand comes in the aftermath of a series of attacks on US personnel in Iraq, which US officials blamed on Iranian-allied organizations.
