Independent MP Raed al-Maliki affirmed the government and central bank’s failure to manage the dollar against the Iraqi dinar.
“The government failed to control the dollar exchange rate during the last period,” Al-Maliki said in an interview with the Maalouma Agency, adding that “this matter prompts us to raise the questioning file of the governor of the Central Bank within the House of Representatives and any other party related to the dollar file.”
He said, “We have recently noticed an unjustified rise in the dollar exchange rate,” pointing that “this rise negatively affects the livelihood of the Iraqi citizen.”
According to Al-Maliki, “the Central Bank’s policy towards the dollar has not succeeded so far.”
Muhammad Nouri, a member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, earlier verified the Central Bank’s failure to manage the exchange rate of the dollar against the Iraqi dinar.
