In light of the current developments in Palestine’s Gaza Strip, former Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi urged on Wednesday for the activation of the House of Representatives’ vote mandating the evacuation of foreign soldiers from Iraq.
“In the face of the great tragedy and initial response to the aggression against Palestine, we see at this stage two urgent demands,” Abdul Mahdi stated in a statement today. First, the House of Representatives’ resolution on 1/5/2020 (complete evacuation of all American and NATO soldiers) must be implemented immediately.
In response to the second demand, Abdul Mahdi urged “preparedness at all levels and fields to face the long battle that awaits us.”
The Iraqi Parliament voted on a resolution urging that Baghdad endeavor to remove foreign soldiers from the nation on January 5, 2020.
The decision occurred two days after Washington executed Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Iranian Quds Force, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, chief of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces, in an air attack near Baghdad airport.
